Purpose

Serena cares for people and creates opportunities for those who give care.

Our message

Serena connects people who need care with people who make care their profession. We bring together technology, training and service management to support families, companies and institutions.

  • For people who need care

Families looking for the right person for their kids, an older adult in the family, their pet or home cleaning.

  • For people who give care

People who make care their profession, with training, a professional profile and access to opportunities.

  • For companies and institutions

Care and cleaning companies that want to run a tighter operation, and organizations looking for a care proposal designed around them.

Our story

From a care app to an ecosystem

Serena started by connecting families with child care professionals. Today it brings together care, training and technology.

  1. 2019

    Serena is born

Serena started in Costa Rica as an app to help families find child care professionals.

  2. 2025–2026

    A new app

We rebuilt the app: one app for families and professionals, with four categories—child care, older adults, pet care and home cleaning—and card payments.

  3. 2026

    Sertify launches

We launched Sertify, Serena's online training platform, for people who work in care and home cleaning.

  4. Today

    A care ecosystem

The app, Sertify, software for care and cleaning companies that's in development, and care proposals for companies and institutions.

Values

What guides us

  1. Trust built on process

We explain what we ask for, what it means and what it doesn't. We'd rather show how it works than promise what no one can guarantee.

  2. Care is a profession

Training, experience and reviews make the work of people who give care visible.

  3. Warmth and closeness

Behind every service there's a family and a person who gives care. We treat both with respect and warmth.

  4. Honesty about what we do

Every feature carries its status: available, in development or coming soon. We publish numbers only when we can back them up.

  5. Opportunity for those who give care

For women and men who give care, with a special focus on women and mothers who want to build a career.

How we work

Clear processes, no absolute promises

  • No absolute promises

No check removes every risk. That's why we explain what we ask professionals for when they join, and recommend talking with the professional before the first visit.

    What we ask professionals for

  • Privacy first

We only ask for the information we need to get back to you. Our forms don't ask for health information or details about minors.

    Privacy notice

  • A platform that connects

Serena connects families with care professionals: each family reviews the profile, chats in the app and chooses.

    How the app works

  • Numbers with sources

Context figures always carry their source and year, and we never present them as our own results.
